Cantabilé is a friendly and lively choir which has been running now for over 13 years.
We consist of around 50 mixed voices, and sing mainly sacred choral works, usually accompanied by an orchestra.
Our Musical Director is Jean Holt
We rehearse once a week on a Thursday evening at 7.30pm, and perform to large audiences 3 times a year, usually in St Luke's Church, Parkstone, where we currently practice.
Last year the three concerts were very popular. The first had a French theme with the main piece being Poulenc's Stabat Mater, but also had some parts of Faure's Requiem, pieces from Berlioz and Gounod and a lively orchestral number called Espana by Chabrier. The summer concert in July was a mix of more light hearted music from traditional folk songs to Broadway musicals and Oklahoma, with pieces arranged by Richard Holt too. We also had a lovely string quartet playing. The winter concert in December included the Sunrise Mass by Ola Gjeilo.
If you came along to any of our concerts last year, we do hope you enjoyed them and very much hope to see you when concerts resume.
Unfortunately due to the restrictions in place, our concerts are currently cancelled.
